Common questions
How is alleex different from Retool?
Retool is a US SaaS with seat fees per viewer. alleex composes a real Next.js app you deploy to your own EU infrastructure — no per-viewer cost, no US data transfer, no Retool dependency in production. The ejected repo is plain TypeScript; your team can maintain it without alleex.
Can I connect to an existing database?
Yes, if it is a Neon Postgres database in the EU region. alleex composes apps against the Drizzle ORM with a Neon connection — you bring the schema, the scaffold generates the admin UI. Connections to external databases outside the Neon/EU stack are custom work in the ejected repo.
How many users can access the internal tool?
There is no per-viewer seat fee in alleex — you own the deployed app. Access is controlled by the roles you configure in Better Auth. The alleex subscription covers composition and the EU hosting infrastructure, not a per-user access fee.
Is SAML available on the free tier?
SAML / SSO is an Enterprise-tier feature. The Business tier includes team workspaces with standard auth. Enterprise pricing is custom — reach out to discuss a contract.
Can I use alleex for tools that handle employee personal data?
Yes. The compliance-eu module pre-configures GDPR defaults for internal employee data processing — consent, retention, DSAR portal, and audit log. Employee data processing under GDPR has specific legal bases; consult your DPO or counsel for your specific obligations.
